Jan Suraaj workers celebrated in Patna as party founder Prashant Kishor continued to maintain a commanding lead in the Bankipur Assembly bypoll. The lead assumes significance as Bankipur has been a BJP stronghold since 1995. In the 2025 Assembly elections, BJP’s Nitin Nabin won the seat for a fifth consecutive term with more than 98,000 votes, defeating RJD’s Rekha Gupta by over 50,000 votes.Nitin Nabin later vacated the seat after being elected to the Rajya Sabha, prompting the bypoll. The BJP fielded youth leader Neeraj Kumar Sinha, but Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj has emerged as a strong challenger.
