Six Israelis detained over alleged assault on Armenian monastery in Jerusalem

LONDON: Six Israelis were detained on Sunday after allegedly attacking the entrance of the Armenian Patriarchate’s St. James Monastery in Jerusalem’s Old City. The incident occurred at about 1 a.m., according to an X post by Jerusalem-based Armenian reporter Kegham Balian, who said the group gathered outside the monastery and “took turns spitting at the monastery entrance.” Tensions rose further when the group spotted an Armenian woman filming them from a nearby residence.
