At least 72 people died during last week's mass influx of migrants into Spain's Ceuta enclave, when tens of thousands of people swam around the border post from Morocco, local officials said on Sunday.

Local media previously reported that more than 1,500 migrants reached Ceuta from Morocco over the past week

The Spanish government's delegation in the enclave told AFP that the bodies of nine migrants who died while trying to reach Ceuta by swimming had been recovered.
