U.S. intelligence agencies now believe Iran was behind a coordinated cyberattack that hit more than 30 municipal water systems in Minnesota this week, that’s according to several U.S.

While it is not yet clear who is responsible for the attacks, Iranian-linked hackers have, for years, targeted U.S. water systems to varying levels of success...

Investigators cautioned that the assessment was preliminary. There were no indications that any water supply had been rendered unsafe to drink.

The cyberattacks were aimed at wells and treatment plants, specifically targeting automated systems and plants’ computer systems.
