President Iliyana Yotova has entered the race to keep the office she already holds, with the kind of head start few Bulgarian candidates ever get: an approval rating hovering around 50%, name recognition built over two full terms as vice president at Dondukov 2, and the backing of both the BSP and the ruling Progressive Bulgaria. Yotova became head of state without a popular vote, taking over the remainder of Rumen Radev's term after he left the presidency to run in the parliamentary elections, and October 25 is her chance to win the office outright in her own right for the first time.
