Tejaswin Shankar became the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men's decathlon after battling a long-standing knee injury to claim bronze in Glasgow on Friday.

The high jumper picked up an injury before the event, and even after he realised he couldn’t continue any longer, he stayed put and helped Kushare win a silver.

Tejaswin Shankar scripted history late on Friday night, becoming the first Indian athlete to win a medal in decathlon at the Commonwealth Games.
