China conducts naval, air patrols around disputed shoal in South China Sea

China's military conducted joint air and naval drills near Scarborough Shoal. These exercises were described as a necessary response to regional instability. The drills aimed to test combat readiness and territorial defense capabilities. China claims the shoal as Huangyan Dao, while the Philippines calls it Bajo de Masinloc.
