Police rescue trapped dog and cat from sweltering truck during 98F heatwave

The animals were found showing signs of dehydration and stress after residents alerted authorities to their plight. Officers provided the dog with water and removed the cat from the vehicle to allow it to get air. Evidence indicated that the pets had been confined in the truck for at least 20 minutes before officers arrived. Two individuals were apprehended upon returning to the truck and have since been charged with two misdemeanour counts of carrying animals in a cruel manner.
