A California man survived over a month alone at sea after his sailboat suffered major damage. He improvised repairs using available materials and collected condensation for drinking water. The man subsisted mainly on oatmeal, squid, and fish during his ordeal. A ship crew spotted his vessel approximately 900 miles from Hawaii and initiated a rescue.
