Ambuja Cements reported a profit drop, impacted by lower sales volume and higher costs. The company will now prioritize value over sales volume in its operations. Consolidated net profit decreased by thirty-seven percent year-on-year during the fiscal first quarter. Higher imported fuel prices and trade costs affected industry profitability significantly. Ambuja Cements remains confident of outpacing industry growth for the remainder of the fiscal.

Ambuja Cement Q1 Results: Revenue from operations also declined 7.5% YoY to Rs 9,474 crore from Rs 10,244 crore in the year-ago quarter, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Overall expenses were down at ₹8,802 crore (₹9,162 crore) on back of fall in power and freight cost at ₹2,389 crore (₹2,513 crore) and ₹2,258 crore (₹2,423 crore).
