U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (July 29) he would wait on making any determination for now on whether Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune was the right person for that role. "Well, we are going to find out and I'll let you know," Trump said when asked by reporters.

The Senate has routinely rejected the SAVE America Act despite pressure from President Donald Trump and MAGA allies.

President Trump is calling for Senate Majority Leader John Thune to keep the Senate in Washington until Republicans pass the SAVE America Act.

Trump reiterated that he has a "good relationship" with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), but "He's got to get his job done."

Thune suggested the endeavor is futile after previous failed votes and in the face of persistent opposition among several Senate Republicans.
