UK Councillor Glenn Gibbins Charged Over ‘Melt Nigerians To Fill Potholes’ Comment

A Reform UK councillor in Sunderland, England, Glenn Gibbins, has been charged with allegedly posting a grossly offensive comment on social media in relation to the Nigerian community. Gibbins, 66, was charged under the Communications Act 2003 over a post allegedly made in 2024, according to BBC report. Northumbria Police confirmed the charge and said the councillor, from the Sunderland area, is scheduled to appear before South Tyneside Magistrates' Court next month.
