Mother of Southport victim speaks out two years on from attack

Ms Stancombe expressed her ongoing struggle with guilt and the pain of time passing, noting it makes her feel further from her daughter rather than healing. The Southport community observed a three-minute silence for the two-year anniversary, and foundations have been established in memory of the three girls. Axel Rudakubana, serving a life sentence for the murders, was recently transferred to Broadmoor Hospital, a decision that does not change his 52-year sentence, following an inquiry that found the attack "could and should have been prevented".
