The trial revealed that both men had previously lived with Desborough at a hostel for the homeless in Newquay, and they were last seen alive in his company. Following their disappearances, Desborough was found to have spent the victims' money, as presented to the jury. Police discovered 1,900 burned bone fragments from Mr Aquilino's body and parts of Mr Coleman's body, including his torso, legs, and feet, in a shallow grave within Sticker Woods, where Desborough resided in a cabin on his property.
