The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an 'orange' alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in nine districts of Uttarakhand for Tuesday, while a 'yellow' alert has been sounded for the remaining districts, with officials instructed to remain vigilant to prevent major disruptions in view of the forecast. Continuous heavy rainfall since last night caused a section of the newly constructed bridge between Prem Nagar and Nanda Ki Chowki on the Dehradun–Paonta Sahib Highway to collapse, disrupting traffic movement.
