The broadcaster successfully retained these rights despite facing competition from the BBC, which showed the Women's Rugby World Cup last year. This agreement reinforces ITV's position as the free-to-air home of rugby union, complementing its existing rights for the Nations Championship in 2026 and 2028, and a majority of men's Six Nations games. Neil Sloane, ITV’s director of sport, described the deal as “monumental” for UK audiences, extending a long-standing partnership with World Rugby that began in 1991. As part of the comprehensive deal, ITV will also broadcast all England men’s international warm-up games leading up to the 2027 World Cup.
