When young people can't work, nations begin to collapse

South Africa's youth unemployment crisis has reached breaking point, with millions of young people excluded from work, education and training. As the NEET rate climbs and nearly half of all young people remain disengaged from the economy, the consequences are being felt in rising crime, political instability, social unrest and sluggish economic growth. Unless urgent action is taken to create jobs and restore pathways into employment, the country risks sacrificing an entire generation—and its future.
