German Chancellor Friedrich Merz vowed Sunday to punish those responsible after a car struck people on the outskirts of Berlin's Gay Pride celebrations, killing at least one person and wounding 16 others.

Berlin police said they have identified a suspect who "is known to police" and has links to "Islamist circles."

One person was killed wjile at least 15 have been injured after a car ploughed into a crowd near a gay pride parade route in Germany's capital, Berlin, on Saturday.
