The Albanese government's latest commitment to the AUKUS submarine program has brought a multibillion-dollar boost to the deal.

The defence minister will pledge more money for South Australia’s Osborne shipyard, central to the AUKUS nuclear-powered submarine program.

Aukus, designed to check China’s military advance in the Indo-Pacific, is expected to cost Canberra up to US$250 billion over 30 years.
