Minister Matthew Samuda is right. There is an inherent conflict that arises from parliamentarians having oversight of the operations of the Integrity Commission (IC). The purpose of the Integrity Commission Parliamentary Oversight Committee is to supervise or monitor the operations of the IC and to ensure it is functioning effectively and in keeping with its mandate. How can parliamentarians do this when they themselves are subject to the oversight of the IC? These current circumstances appear both untidy and improper.
