The Food and Drug Administration is investigating another cyclosporiasis outbreak that is not connected to the one linked to Taylor Farms lettuce.

Some US states are facing a large and growing outbreak of diarrhea caused by cyclospora, a microscopic parasite that can contaminate fresh food or water.

The FDA and CDC have not yet determined for sure the source of the Cyclospora outbreak. It’s also not clear yet whether the rate of new Cyclosporiasis cases has slowed.

Infections caused by the parasite have led to more than 300 hospitalizations since May

Officials have not yet identified the source of the latest outbreak but said they have begun traceback efforts.
