U.S. health officials are investigating a new outbreak involving the diarrhea-causing parasite cyclospora

Federal health officials have been investigating five different clusters of cyclosporiasis cases since the start of parasite season in May, the FDA said on Monday.

Cases have been reported across more than 40 states including Michigan, New York and Ohio

Source of national outbreaks has not yet been identified by public health officials

Infections caused by the parasite have led to more than 300 hospitalizations since May
