Mother and daughter who died in ‘tragic incident’ at Essex beach identified

Emergency services were called to West Mersea beach near Colchester at 5:35pm on Wednesday evening. Witnesses reported seeing a group of people on a seabank calling for help as the tide came in. Police are appealing for witnesses to assist their ongoing investigation, saying that those involved in the incident are believed to have known each other.
