India on course to become one of world's top-10 sporting nations by 2036: Union Minister

India plans to become a top 10 sporting nation by 2036. The nation also aims for a top five ranking by 2047. The Khelo India programme has established over 1,000 sports training centres. The Union Budget increased sports allocation to approximately Rs 4,480 crore. A special fund promotes sports equipment manufacturing and research within India.
