Today, Glasgow will once again become the meeting place of the Commonwealth, as athletes and supporters from 56 nations descend on its red-sandstone streets for the Commonwealth Games. Over the days ahead, competitors from countries large and small will stand alongside one another on the same stage, each carrying the colours, hopes and pride of their people.
