According to the latest data released Wednesday by the World Health Organization (WHO), citing Congolese health authorities, the Ebola epidemic has so far caused 1,001 victims in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda, exceeding one thousand.

All but two of the deaths took place in the Congo, which as of Monday had recorded 2,473 cases in the latest outbreak of the haemorrhagic virus.
