Underweight children double at Gauteng low-resource schools, UJ study finds

A University of Johannesburg study has found that the number of underweight children in low-resource Gauteng schools doubled between 2020 and 2022, with researchers warning that rising food prices, unemployment and economic pressures are affecting children’s nutrition.
