Assam floods: 21 killed in a day, over 5.6 lakh affected

At least 21 people died in a single day as floods worsened across Assam on July 21, taking this year’s flood death toll to 31. More than 5.6 lakh people have been affected across 16 districts, with Sivasagar emerging as the worst-hit district. Relief operations by the Indian Army and Indian Air Force are underway as authorities continue rescue efforts. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to visit the affected areas on July 22.
