Lesotho’s Afriski resort drew over 1,600 visitors in a single day in 2025, turning the Maluti Mountains into sub-Saharan Africa’s only operating ski destination.

Afriski says about 70 per cent of visitors come from neighbouring South Africa while the rest are mostly from across the region.

Lesotho attracts thousands each winter to its unique ski resort, the only such tourist attraction in sub-Saharan Africa.
