A sports pundit was caught on a hot mic reacting to Donald Trump after he refused to leave the stage during the World Cup trophy lift. On Sunday (19 July), the US president and Fifa’s Gianni Infantino presented Spain’s captain Rodri with the trophy, after the Spanish side clinched a 1-0 win against reigning champions Argentina. Rodri could be seen gesturing for Mr Trump to move aside, and as he stood on the sidelines, Infantino also appeared to urge him to move further away. Reacting to the moment, Claudio Fabiano of Australia’s Special Broadcasting Service said: “They’re going to edit him out of that.”

Infantino and Trump came together for an event at Trump Tower in New York City just days out from the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina.
