A recent study found a link between high artificial sweetener intake and faster cognitive decline. Participants consuming the most sweeteners showed a 62% faster decline over eight years. This cognitive decline was comparable to approximately 1.6 years of additional brain aging. The association was particularly strong among adults under the age of sixty.

While marketed as healthier alternatives to sugar, there is growing evidence linking sweeteners in food and drinks to diseases such as type 2 diabetes, obesity and cancer.
