The death of Nolan Wells, a Black teenager whose body was located on an island off the Mississippi coast after he spent the Fourth of July there with three white friends, has drawn widespread attention amid mounting unanswered questions.

Nolan Xavier Wells, an 18-year-old who was found dead after a July 4 boat trip with his friends to a Gulf Coast island, will be remembered Monday in Mississippi.

As Nolan Wells’ family prepares to lay the 18-year-old to rest on Monday, they will do so without knowing why his young life was cut so tragically short.
