New World Cup champions Spain enjoyed a vibrant night of celebrations after an open-top bus parade through the streets of Madrid on Monday in front of a jubilant crowd of an estimated two million people.

A tense final in New Jersey was finally settled after extra time as Spain ended Argentina's reign as world champions and lifted the trophy for the second time.

The streets of Madrid were already packed as clocks approached midnight in Spain's capital, but it wasn't until Ferran Torres' winning goal in the 106th minute of Sunday's final.
