Andy Burnham joined Mo Farah on a run through the streets of London ahead of his move into 10 Downing Street. On Monday (20 July), the Makerfield MP became the new prime minister, after being elected unopposed as Labour leader last week. Ahead of assuming office, the former Greater Manchester mayor teamed up with the Olympic legend for a run around central London. “Don’t worry, I went easy on him,” Mr Burnham joked as he shared the footage. During the run, many passers-by spotted the pair and called out to Mr Burnham. “See how much love you’re getting Andy,” Sir Mo said.

The former mayor of Manchester’s entry into Downing Street will mark the climax of a steep ascent for a politician who until last month wasn’t even an MP. | World News

Andy Burnham has just one more hurdle to jump before he becomes the UK’s seventh prime minister in 10 years.
