Mr Akbar had been admitted to the emergency ward for hypertension, meningoencephalitis, and aspiration pneumonia. The incident occurred in the presence of hospital staff, and a nursing officer attending to him also sustained injuries. He died less than three hours after the fan fell, with his death certificate listing his pre-existing conditions as the cause of death. Mr Akbar's family protested the quality of treatment and the circumstances surrounding his death, but the hospital has not yet issued a statement.
