Singapore's Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim has resigned from office after his interactions with a woman ‘fell short’ of the standards expected of a political office holder and member of parliament, according to a statement by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Most of the interactions between the former minister and the female member of the public took place through online messages, says Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Faishal, who is married with two children, was acting minister of Muslim affairs and senior minister of state for home affairs.
