RIYADH: Al-Ittihad have had a bid for Egypt’s World Cup midfielder Emam Ashour rejected by Cairo giants Al-Ahly, according to a source close to the player who spoke to Arabic sports daily Arriyadiyah. The source indicated that the Jeddah side opened negotiations with Al-Ahly to sign the 28-year-old during the current transfer window, submitting an initial offer of $6 million to the club in a deal worth $4 million per year to the player. Al-Ahly signed the player in July 2023 from Danish club Midtjylland for about $3 million.
