Scientists discovers new highly venomous box jellyfish species with stings strong enough to kill humans

Scientists identified a new highly venomous box jellyfish species near Singapore. This new species, Chironex blakangmati, was discovered after studying specimens found in 2020 and 2021. Researchers found this species differs genetically and physically from other known box jellyfish. The deadly Thai sea wasp species was also found in Singapore waters for the first time. This knowledge helps reduce risks of serious injuries and fatalities among humans.
