Alibaba's T-Head unit is open-sourcing its proprietary software stack, aiming to simplify developer workflows and rival Nvidia's dominant CUDA ecosystem in the AI chip market.

Alibaba's T-Head unit open-sourced SAIL, the software stack for its Zhenwu AI chips, at WAIC. It follows Huawei's CANN open-sourcing and targets CUDA migration.

The firm’s chip unit T-Head aims to lower migration barriers to Zhenwu AI computing architectures, following similar initiatives by Huawei and Moore Threads.
