Madhya Pradesh cabinet approves UCC draft bill for presentation in state assembly

Madhya Pradesh's cabinet approved the Uniform Civil Code draft bill for assembly presentation. This bill aims to apply to all societal sections except tribal communities. The marriageable age is set at twenty-one for men and eighteen for women. Mandatory marriage registration is a key provision within the new civil code. A committee had previously recommended excluding Scheduled Tribes from its purview.
