From Daman’s first flight to ₹28,840-cr UDAN push: India’s regional air connectivity takes off
Daman gets its first-ever direct air connectivity with New Delhi as Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu flags off the inaugural Daman–Delhi–Daman flight from the newly operational NAMO Airport. The launch comes amid the Centre’s wider regional aviation push, with a proposed ₹28,840 crore budgetary outlay over 10 years for the next phase of the Modified UDAN scheme. The plan includes 100 new airports, 200 heliports, airline viability gap funding and support for airport infrastructure across remote, hilly and unconnected regions.
