The fraudsters used the proceeds from their scheme to fund a lavish lifestyle, acquiring luxury cars, watches, jewellery, and undertaking worldwide travel. Footage showed Bhandari posing with a new £126,000 Porsche shortly before his arrest. Bhandari's wife, Meenakashi, was also convicted of money laundering, having used some of the defrauded money to repay her personal debts.
