Bullet train: Second tunnel boring machine begins excavation for tunnel beneath Thane creek

A second tunnel boring machine has begun excavating for the rail tunnel under Thane Creek. This critical section will be the country's first undersea tunnel for any rail corridor. The machine is among the largest ever deployed for rail tunnel construction in India. It utilizes advanced technology to actively stabilize the tunnel face during excavation. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor is being constructed at an estimated Rs 1.08 lakh crore.
