Taco Bell issued a statement about removing Taylor Farms lettuce from its stores amid the cyclosporiasis outbreak even as the producer issued a clarification.

Cyclosporiasis outbreak: Health officials are probing Taco Bell in Detroit due to a nationwide recall of certain ingredients, including lettuce and guacamole.

Michigan, which is where much of the outbreak is centered, has reported over 4,300 cases of cyclosporiasis, which can cause diarrhea and a low grade fever.

Nearly 7,000 cases of cyclosporiasis have been reported across the country

Upwards of 1,600 people who contracted cyclosporiasis reported eating at the chain beforehand, the CDC and FDA said.
