Quantinuum and Academic Partners Demonstrate First Universal Topological Gate Set via Non-Abelian Anyons - Quantum Computing Report

A multi-institutional collaboration including Quantinuum, the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering (UChicago PME), Harvard University, and Stony Brook University has successfully demonstrated the first universal topological gate set using non-Abelian anyons. Published in Nature, the landmark experiment utilized Quantinuum’s H2 trapped-ion quantum processor to entangle 54 physical qubits, creating a highly stable topological state based on the S3​ non-Abelian symmetry group.
