The secretary’s comments come as the Trump administration is increasingly using government agencies to sow doubts about the nation’s electoral system.

Secretary Markwayne Mullin also threatened to defund states that don’t “scrub” their voter rolls.

Mullin made the comments during a press conference about new election security measures following President Donald Trump’s speech on the topic Thursday.
