Cop drags motorist out of smoking car as it bursts into flames on side of the highway

A police officer saved a motorist from a smoking car as it burst into flames on the side of a Texas highway. Footage shared by Southlake Department of Public Safety shows a smoking vehicle catching on fire as Corporal Joshua Swisher ran towards it. Swisher had been conducting a traffic stop when he was alerted to a vehicle with heavy smoke coming from it heading his way. After directing it towards the hard shoulder, Swisher broke the driver’s window and pulled the motorist out of the car and led him to safety. The driver did not suffer any serious injuries and Swisher was presented with the Southlake Police Department’s Meritorious Conduct Award, the Department’s second-highest honor.
