President Murmu set to embark on historic Eastern Europe tour: Why her visit matters for India

President Droupadi Murmu will undertake a historic State visit to Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania from July 19–25, 2026. The visit will mark the first-ever visit by an Indian President to Moldova and North Macedonia, while her Romania visit will be the first by an Indian President in more than three decades. The tour is expected to deepen cooperation in trade, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, IT, education, technology and investment, while strengthening India's engagement with Eastern Europe.
