The U.S. government is reportedly considering joining the litigation, which would allow the Trump administration to withhold documents requested by the British broadcaster.

The president has sued the BBC for $10 billion, accusing it of deceptively editing a speech he delivered on the day of the January 6 Capitol riots in a documentary it aired.

A trial date has now been set for February 2027 - however as per fresh legal filings, part of the lawsuit has been dropped by the President of the United States
