Taco Bell's shredded iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms has emerged as a potential source of a Cyclospora outbreak that has sickened thousands across the United States.

Taco Bell has removed several fresh ingredients, such as lettuce, from its menus at locations across the country, including in Texas and Michigan.

Michigan, which is where much of the outbreak is centered, has reported over 4,300 cases of cyclosporiasis, which can cause diarrhea and a low grade fever.

Nearly 7,000 cases of cyclosporiasis have been reported across the country

Upwards of 1,600 people who contracted cyclosporiasis reported eating at the chain beforehand, the CDC and FDA said.
